Seneca Lake Map Art

Seneca Lake is the largest of the eleven Finger Lakes in central New York and the deepest glacial lake entirely within the state. It is 38 miles long, reaches more than 618 feet deep, and holds about half of all the water in the Finger Lakes. The lake spans four counties, Schuyler, Seneca, Yates and Ontario, and takes its name from the Seneca people who lived on this land. Geneva sits at the north end, home to Hobart and William Smith Colleges and a Cornell agricultural research station. Watkins Glen sits at the south end, known for its racetrack and its waterfalls. The lake is called the lake trout capital of the world and hosts the National Lake Trout Derby. Its climate supports more than 50 wineries along the Seneca Lake wine trail. On a map it is a long, clean blade of water between rolling farmland.
