Design your Deep Creek Lake canvasWhy Deep Creek Lake
Deep Creek Lake is a reservoir in Garrett County, in far western Maryland, with about 3,900 acres of water and 69 miles of shoreline. It was made by damming Deep Creek for a hydroelectric project. Work on the dam started in 1923 and finished in 1925. The lake twists through the hills in long arms and coves, which is why it looks so good as a map. McHenry sits near the north end, Wisp Resort rises above the water, and Deep Creek Lake State Park covers the northeast shore. Many families have spent summers here for generations, on a dock in a cove they know by name.

Map it your way
Center the map on the part of Deep Creek Lake that means the most to you.
McHenry
The town near the north end, with the marinas and the main road along the lake. A good center for a house off Route 219.
Wisp Resort
The ski and summer resort above the west shore. Pick it if your family goes to the mountain in winter and the water in summer.
Deep Creek Lake State Park
The park on the northeast shore, with its beach and trails. It frames well with the coves across the water.
