Design your Saranac Lake canvasWhy Saranac Lake
Saranac Lake is a village inside the Adirondack Park in northern New York, and with 4,887 people at the 2020 census it is the largest community in the park. It spreads across three towns, Harrietstown, St. Armand and North Elba, and two counties, Franklin and Essex, and the county line runs within two blocks of the village center. The village is named for Upper, Middle and Lower Saranac lakes nearby, though its own water is Lake Flower, a wide part of the Saranac River that reaches into the village. Lake Placid is 9 miles east, and with Tupper Lake the three villages make up the Tri-Lakes region. Settlers first came in 1819. The village grew after Edward Livingston Trudeau arrived from New York City to treat his tuberculosis in the mountain air, and patients followed, including Robert Louis Stevenson in 1887.

Does the village frame include the Saranac lakes themselves?
Not by default. The village does not touch the three Saranac lakes, so move the frame west to bring Lower Saranac Lake in.
