Design your Newport canvasWhy Newport
Newport is a seaside city on Aquidneck Island in Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island. It was a major port in the 1700s and still has many buildings from the colonial era. Newport hosted the first U.S. Open tournaments in both tennis and golf, and every America's Cup challenge from 1930 to 1983. The Gilded Age mansions line Bellevue Avenue, the Cliff Walk runs along the ocean behind them, and the harbor and Thames Street fill the downtown waterfront. Ocean Drive loops around the southern end. A map of Newport shows the city's mix of harbor, old streets and open shoreline.
