Design your Carmel-by-the-Sea canvasWhy Carmel-by-the-Sea
Carmel-by-the-Sea is a small city on the Monterey Peninsula on the Central Coast of California. Spanish settlers founded a settlement here in 1771, when Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo was moved from Monterey. After the Carmel Development Company formed in 1902, the village grew into an art colony and seaside resort, and it incorporated in 1916. Ocean Avenue runs down through the village to Carmel Beach, the Carmel Mission stands near the river to the south, and Point Lobos is just beyond. The small, tree-lined street grid between the forest and the sea makes a detailed map.

Map it your way
Center the map on the part of Carmel-by-the-Sea that means the most to you.
Ocean Avenue
The main street down through the village to the beach. A good center for the shops and cottages. The cottages and courtyards on the side streets fill the frame well.
Carmel Beach
The white sand beach at the foot of Ocean Avenue. Frame it with the streets above.
Carmel Mission
The mission near the Carmel River, south of the village.
Point Lobos
The state natural reserve just south of the Carmel River, with its coves and cypress groves. A wider frame that takes in the coast below the village and the mouth of the river.

FAQ
Can I center the map on our cottage?
Yes. Search your street in the create flow and move the map until your block sits where you want it. Carmel homes often go by name rather than street number, so you can type the nearest cross streets instead.
Can I pick a different style?
Yes. The sample here is Art Nouveau, but you can choose any of our 33 styles in the create flow. Watercolor and Cyanotype also suit the coast and the cove at Carmel Beach.
